The Musicraft brand was born in California in 1967, but was discontinued after only six months of activity. However, despite the extremely limited production numbers, it attracted attention due to its use by legendary artists active in the 1970s, and reproduction models have been released, proving that it remains a firm favorite among overseas vintage guitar fans.
This time, we have the brand’s flagship model, the Messenger, in stereo.
body
The overall weight is approximately 3.7 kg. The body is made of semi-hollow maple. The center block is made of metal with a neck-through construction. The cherry color has faded and has a more subdued appearance. There is some weather checking overall, cracks on the body side, belt buckle marks on the back of the body, and some tarnish on parts, but the guitar is in relatively good condition.
neck
The neck is made of metal with a through-hole construction. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. There are dents around the headstock and paint chipping on the back of the neck, giving it the feel of a vintage guitar. The tuners have some inconsistency in tightness, but they function well. There is some wear on the nut, but not much wear on the frets, and playability is good. The nut width is 43.0mm. The neck shape is relatively solid.
[Electrical system]
Controls include a 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls (front/rear), 2 tone controls (front/rear), and a reciprocal pickup on/off switch when using a mono jack. The pickups are made by Dual Monde, and the controls, including the pickups, are in pristine condition. The unique metal center block and semi-hollow body, along with the Dual Monde pickups, produce a rich, harmonically rich tone that’s sure to captivate.
