ATELIER Z Guitar Works enjoys the deep trust of professional bassists of all musical styles. Among the brand’s extensive lineup of basses, characterized by a clear sound orientation and a variety of specifications to meet the needs of players, this particular model is the “Beta,” which features a 24-fret design and a deep cutaway on the treble side for excellent playability in the higher positions. It is equipped with an ash body, a celluloid-wrapped maple neck, and an original bridge. While retaining the tight and powerful bass tones that are characteristic of the brand’s flagship model “M (Magnitude),” this model also features a sharp body shape, adding a crisp and well-defined nuance to its sound.

One of the great things about ATELIER Z basses is that they deliver a solid, resonant acoustic sound even with a low string action. Not only is the sound crisp when slapping, but you also get a well-defined bottom end when fingerpicking or using a pick. The thick pickguard and the exquisite Z-tuning system create a tight string spacing, allowing for supple responsiveness to fretting and picking nuances, contributing to stable playing and highlighting its excellence as a tool to support the player’s expression. You can fully enjoy the slap sound that has become synonymous with this brand. Furthermore, even when boosting the sound on the bass itself during slapping, there’s no loss of clarity or fragmentation of the sound image; instead, it significantly enhances the bass’s presence. The Beta series, which had been in the lineup for a long time, underwent a renewal in March 2025. The pickups are the company’s original “JZ-4” pickups, which employ a slant pole piece/split coil structure, achieving a noiseless and powerful sound. The active preamp is also newly developed “AZ-3B”. Each of the 3 bands can be boosted/cut, covering a wide range of sounds. Furthermore, it actively incorporates features for technically-oriented players, such as a heel cut at the joint and a removable finger ramp. This particular unit was ordered by our store in transparent pink, resulting in a vivid look.
