This second hand guitar is in fantastic worn condition. It embodies 45 years of love, as you would expect. The effect of this guitar and its reliced by time look is totally inspirational
Wear to the finish on the back of the neck, some scratches on the body. Absolutely marvelous. The technicians at Gibson when they relic their new custom shop models couldn’t do this job!
At some time we believe that the body has been refinished true to the original look, but you wouldn’t know as it has been done in keeping with the age of the guitar.
Case , while vintage, may not be original. The pickups have been replaced at some time and are not original , but sound fabulous.
Build & Craftsmanship
The craftsmanship from this era is robust. While Norlin-era 1980 Gibson Customs are often praised for its solid feel and attention to detail. Expect a heavier body, but also a sustain monster.
Tone & Electronics
Tonally, this guitar delivers thick, creamy mids, tight lows, and singing highs. Its ideal for hard rock, blues, and metal, but versatile enough for jazz and fusion. The ebony fretboard adds snap and clarity, especially for lead work.
Playability
Vintage Appeal
Pros
The 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony is more than a guitar its a statement. Whether you’re chasing Randy Rhoads tones or just want a piece of rock history, this axe delivers. Its bold, beautiful, and brutally effective. It is heavy though, not ideal for long gigs without a good strap
