Wat begon bij n van Paul Reed Smith’s favoriete vintage gitaren, resulteert nu in een splinternieuw PRS model: de NF53. “NF” voor Narrowfield Pickups, “53” voor 1953, het bouwjaar van die bewuste vintage gitaar.
De PRS NF53 combineert de sound enattitudevan klassieke T-style gitaren met PRS’ kenmerkende oog voor detail en een modern, doordacht ontwerp. De body van de NF53 is vervaardigd uit swamp ash, een houtsoort die met zijn felle, heldere klank een perfecte match is voor een gitaar met deze inslag.Dit geldt ook voor de geschroefde maple hals, die ook nog eens uitermate stabiel is en dankzij het Pattern 53 halsprofielenormlekker in de hand ligt.
Voor de pickups van de PRS NF53 is gekozen voor een set Narrowfield DD-elementen. “DD” staat voor Deep Dish, wat verwijst naar de diepere bobbins die ruimte maken voor meer windingen. Het resultaat is een meer gefocuste, krachtige klank.Het meest opvallendeaan deze elementen is dat ze in alles humbuckers zijn- behalve in klank! De NF53 heeft namelijk een felheid en openheid die je alleen zou verwachten bij een setje hoogwaardige single coils. Het voordeel van deze Narrowfields is dat ze dus niet brommen met oversturing, en ze pikken geen 60-cycle hum op.
De PRS NF53 bevat verder een punchy, direct klinkende Plate Style brug met twee zadels, PRS Vintage Style tuners met een nieuw knopontwerp en chique bird-inlays. Elke NF53 wordt geleverd inclusief bijpassende PRS Gigbag.

The PRS NF53 combines the sound and attitude of classic T-style guitars with PRS’ signature attention to detail and modern, thoughtful design. The body of the NF53 is crafted from swamp ash, a wood that, with its bright, clear sound, is a perfect match for a guitar with this slant. This also applies to the bolt-on maple neck, which is also extremely stable and, thanks to the Pattern 53 neck profile, feels very comfortable in the hand.
A set of Narrowfield DD pickups has been chosen for the pickups of the PRS NF53. “DD” stands for Deep Dish, which refers to the deeper bobbins that make room for more turns. The result is a more focused, powerful sound. The most striking thing about these pickups is that they are humbuckers in everything – except in tone! The NF53 has a fierceness and openness that you would only expect from a set of high-quality single coils. The advantage of these Narrowfields is that they don’t hum with overdrive, and they don’t pick up a 60-cycle hum.
The PRS NF53 also features a punchy, direct sounding two-saddle Plate Style bridge, PRS Vintage Style tuners with a new button design and chic bird inlays. Each NF53 comes with a matching PRS Gigbag.
